CALLING ALL STUDENT WRITERS!

You're in the write place.

You're in the write place.

Are you an ambitious writer currently enrolled in college who is looking to get published? If so, we'd love to hear from you!

We're Coop, an adjustable sleep product company based in Los Angeles. This year, we're inviting college students to participate in our brand new student writer program. Why? We want to increase and diversify our blog content, while also providing a paid opportunity for young writers to publish their work.

Why should I write for Coop?

With over 75,000 visits to our site every month, you'll have the opportunity to receive thousands of eyeballs on your writing. That'll look great in your portfolio, eh?

We'd also love to compensate you for your time and effort! If we decide to publish your submission, we'll notify you and send you $40 via PayPal.

Guidelines

  1. We welcome any topic that relates to sleep, home, or wellness that has educational value. See below for some ideas, but feel free to get creative!
  2. We're suckers for humor and a fun, conversational tone. In fact, we regard Tina Fey as a goddess.
  3. 400–1,000 words long. Avoid unnecessary fluff—the only fluffy things we like are animals and pillows.
  4. Format your content in an easily legible way. It's 2019, so we love a good listicle. Considering using:
    • Subheadlines
    • Short paragraphs
    • Bullet points
    • Bold text to emphasize key points
  5. Please provide us with original content, and do not submit your content to other publications.

Our brand voice

Consider us like the wise but funny aunt you love who gives you sage advice. She genuinely wants to help you succeed—all while keeping it lighthearted with the occasional cheesy joke.

We like puns. We like relating to people. At the same time, we hope to inspire people to do better and be better.

What we are: friendly, authoritative, sincere, cheerful, approachable, informative, dependable, witty
What we are not: snobby, pretentious, robotic, boring, stiff, formal

A few topic ideas to get your creative juices flowing

  • DIY tutorials for the home/bedroom (including original, high quality photography would be a huge plus)
  • Bedtime routine/how you unwind
  • Self-care tips
  • Testing out bizarre sleep products
  • First-hand sleep experiments
  • Tips on how to tackle common sleep issues

How to submit

Please submit your content as a Google doc so we can easily provide feedback and make edits.
